Flowdive on Android — Closed Beta Is Open
The Android version of Flowdive is in closed beta and we need 12 testers to clear Google Play's gate before the public launch. Here's how to join, what you'll get, and what you'll see.
After macOS and Windows, the next platform is here: Flowdive for Android is now in closed beta on Google Play. (iOS is in active development and shipping soon after — stay tuned.)
If you've been waiting for the Android version, this is the moment. We need a small group of testers — and you can be one of them.
Why we need testers (the honest reason)
Google Play introduced a policy a while back: any new individual developer account has to complete a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days before the app can be promoted to production.
So this isn't a marketing beta or a vibes check. It's literally the gate Google has put between the build and the Play Store listing. We need real people on real devices, opting in, leaving the app installed for two weeks.
In return for that small favor, you get the app early — and a free Pro license when we ship.
What's in the Android build
The Android version mirrors the desktop core, with one mobile-shaped feature on top.
Same core as desktop
- Focus sessions with site and app blocking
- Deep Dive — the lockable mode you can't quit out of until the timer ends
- Cross-device sync for Pro users (your desktop and phone share session state)
- 6 languages — Korean, English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German
Mobile-shaped feature: three lock modes
Phones have a different distraction surface than laptops. So Deep Dive on Android comes with three escalating modes:
- Whitelist — only apps you explicitly allow are usable (recommended). Phone, messages, and a handful of apps you pick. Everything else is blocked.
- Essentials only — phone and messages stay usable, nothing else.
- Strict — nothing usable except Flowdive itself. The hardest setting.
When Deep Dive starts, you can't change the mode or quit until the timer expires. That's the point.
How to join (3 minutes)
The closed test runs through a Google Group, so we need your Gmail address to add you. Two steps:
1. Send your Gmail
Email your Gmail address to support@flowdive.app with the subject "Android Beta". We'll add you to the tester group within a few hours.
You don't need to "use Gmail" — it's just the email tied to your Play Store account. The Google Group system requires a Gmail address to add you as a tester.
2. Once you're added, opt in and install
We'll confirm when you're added to the tester group. Then:
- Tap the opt-in link we send you (it looks like
play.google.com/apps/testing/app.flowdive.android) - Hit Become a tester
- Wait 5–15 minutes for Google's system to sync
- Open Play Store, search "Flowdive", install
- Open the app once so we know it's actually running on your device
That's it. Leave it installed for 14 days. You don't have to use it every day — though if you want to actually try Deep Dive on your phone, we'd love your feedback.
What you get in return
- 3 months of Pro for free when we go live. If you give us real feedback, we'll make it longer.
- Direct line to the dev — if something's broken, weird, or just badly designed, tell us. We read everything.
- The "I was here early" footnote — when Flowdive Android shows up on Product Hunt or wherever it shows up, you were the first 12.
The timeline
- Now → next few days: collecting 12 Gmail addresses
- Day 1–3: everyone opts in and installs
- Day 3 → Day 17: the 14-day Google waiting period
- Day 18+: we apply for production access, Google reviews (3–7 days)
- ~3–4 weeks from now: Android goes public
Slower than we'd like. But it's the same gate every new Android dev walks through, and frankly, having 12 humans actually use the app for two weeks before launch is probably a feature, not a bug.
What you'll see (and what you won't)
A few honest disclosures so the beta doesn't surprise anyone.
- It's v1.0.0 — the same build we'll ship to production. Not a "we'll polish it before launch" build. If something's rough, it goes live rough unless you flag it.
- Cross-device sync needs Pro. Free users can still focus on Android alone, but the session you start on your laptop won't reflect on your phone (and vice versa) without Pro.
- You'll see one of two new screens: the new Deep Dive lock layout (a shield-and-lock badge, the active mode label, the apps that are still allowed, and a countdown pill). It's the same visual everywhere the lock is shown.
Thanks in advance
Honestly, the whole reason we can ship Android at all is because 12 strangers (and a few less-than-strangers) said yes to this. Indie launches don't happen without that small group.
If you're in, just send your Gmail to support@flowdive.app with the subject "Android Beta". We'll take it from there. 🌊
